Baby2Baby’s Initiative to Combat the Maternal Health Crisis
In 2023, Baby2Baby was selected by the Biden Administration to pilot a program to deliver critical items to babies and their mothers immediately after giving birth with the goal of addressing the maternal health crisis.
Our Maternal Health & Newborn Supply Kits contain items that are vital for the well-being of both mother and baby including diapers, wipes, hygiene products, breastfeeding supplies, postpartum care and educational resources.

Originally announced by Vice President Kamala Harris at Baby2Baby’s Headquarters, Baby2Baby funded a pilot program and distributed 3,000 Maternal Health & Newborn Supply Kits through hospitals and community-based partner organizations across Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico – three states experiencing deep levels of family poverty and high maternal mortality rates.

With the help of Huggies and Merck for Mothers, Baby2Baby has expanded the program to reach mothers and babies in over 20 states, reaching the states with the highest maternal mortality rates in the country.

In 2025, we received a historic $9 million grant from the State of New York that will allow us to expand our initiative to combat the maternal health crisis and provide 100,000 new mothers giving birth on Medicaid across the state with a Baby2Baby Maternal Health & Newborn Supply Kit.
